Diagnosed with Chronic Kidney Disease. What's Next?

"You have chronic kidney disease." You can hardly believe your ears - or your doctor's diagnosis, for that matter. Despite having lived with other conditions like hypertension (high blood pressure) and diabetes for a while now, you had always thought you were doing a good enough jobs in managing them - good enough to prevent yourself from developing chronic kidney disease (CKD) down the road.

But being diagnosed with CKD is not the end. Although there is no cure for CKD (and the resulting gradual decline of kidney function), your doctor can work out a treatment strategy appropriate to your health profile and your specific needs. With effective management, the progression of CKD can be significantly slowed, and your quality of life maintained.

Here are four pointers to help you get the best out of your CKD management plan:

1) Work with your doctor

Don't just consult your doctor - work hand-in-hand with him or her. Whether it's taking notes to help you better remember your doctor's advice, preparing a list of questions prior to each appointment or asking for clarifications on issues you may be uncertain about, playing an active patient role is crucial for the management of any disease, including CKD.

2) Manage co-existing diseases

In most patients, CKD is the result of diabetes or hypertension. Both these conditions damage blood vessels, including the tiny ones within the kidneys. This gradually impairs kidney function.

To effectively control CKD to slow its progression, these underlying conditions must also be monitored and managed well. However, it can sometimes be difficult to know  where to focus your attention or which issues should be prioritized. Work with your doctor to determine which is most important to you right now so that you can focus on what requires the most control.

3) Abide by dietary restrictions

Your doctor will likely advise you to abide by a kidney-friendly diet which restricts protein. This is because the kidneys are tasked with clearing waste products generated when you digest protein. In CKD patients, compromised kidneys can no longer cope with the demands of this task, and straining them accelerates the damage. By consuming less protein, your kidneys' workload is eased considerably, enabling them to function longer. You will have to do your part in abiding by your doctor's recommended ways to restrict protein intake.

Your doctor may also advise you to consider keto acid therapy. When consumed, keto acids are broken down into essential amino acids (the building blocks of protein), but without the workload typically associated with protein metabolism. Research shows that keto acid therapy can be effective in preserving kidney function - meaning more dialysis-free years!

4) Take charge!

Being diagnosed with CKD can be disheartening. However, it is not all gloom-and-doom. there are many things you can do to delay its progression and live a full and satisfying life. With successful management of your other health conditions, appropriate lifestyle choices and a positive attitude, you can live the life you want - CKD or not!

We would like to introduce you to STOLLE ESSENTIAL.....

Stolle Essential was extracted from Stolle Skim Milk Powder. Its low content of lactose and protein makes it the good choice for those who suffer from CKD and those who have to limit carbohydrate and protein intake. It can double modulate immunity and thus a good companion of daily immunity.

Three features of Stolle Essential:

1) Contain specific antibodies and functional factors

Based on the concept of 'mother's milk', Stolle Essential manufactured by hyperimmunisation technique contain 26 types of antibody and three functional factors which form the natural protective shelter that defense the exogenous bacteria.

2) The low lactose keeps the lactose intolerance away
